One of Rome’s best kept secrets and one of the most luxurious and unique places to stay in the city. Named after Emperor Napoleon III who lived at La Residenza in 1830 with his mother, Hortense Beauharnais, former Queen of Holland.
It is situated in the 16th century Palazzo Ruspoli, on Rome’s legendary via Condotti. La Residenza was renovated by the Ruspoli family who continue to reside within the Palazzo walls.
Princess Letizia Ruspoli’s idea of converting a section of her home into such a private accommodation came to be, many years ago, when she met a Maharaja who was renovating one of his palaces into a luxury hotel. She managed in three years to restore the apartment to its original splendour and offers guests all the grandeur of a classic roman Palazzo.
I had the privilege to stay there, experience it’s beauty and hospitality and get plenty of inspiration for this photo reportage.
